About the project

The title ’Be in my Shoe’ refers to the main concept of our project. We would like to teach our students to accept and understand cultural differences. The European Union is a multicolour community of different nations. Since the future generations will grow up as European Citizens, they need to learn these skills to be successful and confident in this multicultural environment. The project will be implemented with the cooperation of four countries: Spain, Italy, Poland and Hungary.

We organize four international meetings, one in each country. Each student meeting is preceded by preliminary researches on the cultural characteristics of the host country. During the international meetings students take part in further activities such as making crafts, learning a piece of music or folk dance, visiting attractions, cooking local food, making videos or cartoons. The students work in mixed groups, so they have to cooperate and deal with difficulties originated from their cultural differences. We are intending to use a wide variety of contemporary pedagogical approaches, such as the Complex Instruction approach of the Stanford University, project based learning, innovative ICT applications and formative assessment. As a result of the project we are planning to integrate new practices and teaching methods into our curriculums.

Our experiences and learning outputs will be published in our ’Be in my Shoe’ online magazine.
